Research Blog #5: Bibliography with Five Scholarly Sources

  • Ottens, Allen J. and Kathy Hotelling. Sexual Violence on Campus: Policies, Programs, and Perspectives. New York: Springer, 2001. Print.
  • Smith, Merril D. Sex without Consent: Rape and Sexual Coercion in America. New York: New York UP, 2001. Print.

  1. You should include any other sources you are using. And, where possible, seek out the most authoritative sources. Some of these seem a little dated -- especially Ottens and Hotelling, which speaks to policies, where you should seek out current practices where possible, unless these historical policies are part of your argument (in which case it will function more as a primary source than a scholarly source). In some cases, these do not seem like the best sources for where you are headed. The Thornhill and Palmer piece seems like a more popular version of their book by the same name, which considers rape from an evolutionary perspective. If you want to use them, go to their book. But are you sure you want to use them? Also, you should include sources on your case.
